Vice President-elect JD Vance is undergoing a planned surgery on Friday, according to a spokesperson.
“The Vice President-elect is having long-planned, minor sinus surgery and will be back to work tomorrow,” said Vance spokesperson William Martin in a statement to The Hill.
Fox News reported earlier Friday that the surgery is taking place at George Washington Hospital in Washington.
Vance was on Capitol Hill earlier Friday as Vice President Harris swore in Sens. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) and Dave McCormick (D-Pa.) alongside six Democrats elected to the Senate.
“I was proud to stand with @berniemoreno and @DaveMcCormickPA as they were sworn in to the US Senate. Congrats to them and to all of our new senators!” Vance wrote on the social media platform X.
Vance, still an elected senator, will vacate his seat once he assumes the vice presidency later this month. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) will choose his replacement.
