Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague.

The Athletic reported on Saturday that Tottenham were close to completing the deal, with Kinsky costing more than £10million (12.4m) including bonuses and add-ons.

The 21-year-old has signed a deal until 2031 with his new side, pending international clearance and a work permit.

He will wear the No 31 shirt.

Kinsky is not viewed as a backup to first-choice Guglielmo Vicario, rather the Czech is expected to challenge for the No 1 spot.

Vicario has been out with a right ankle injury since late November and is not expected to return until the end of February. That has meant Fraser Forster has deputised in Vicario’s place in every game since, apart from Saturday’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United when the 36-year-old was out with illness and Brandon Austin was handed his senior Spurs debut.

Kinsky has been capped up to Under-21 level by his country but has been called up to the recent senior Czech Republic squads, remaining on the bench for his country’s Nations League fixtures in October and November. This season, Kinsky has 12 clean sheets in 19 league games as Slavia top the Czech First League. He also has the best save percentage (83.3 per cent) of all goalkeepers to have played at least 10 games in Europe’s top 10 divisions, per Opta.
