In the village of Zaouia Tahtania, 18 km south of the famous ksour (ancient mud village) of Taghit lies an ancient art gallery. Drawings of antelopes, ostriches, giraffes, gazelles, camels, horses, elephants as well as geometrical symbols and human form can be found on the rocks scattered on the slope of an arid hill. The petroglypts were estimated to date back 10,000 years ago or during the Neolithic period. The rock carvings here symbolizes the wild animals that once lived in this part of the world.
