For the first time in more than five years, Patrick Mahomes will sign autographs on new NFL trading cards. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback will have autographed cards in upcoming 2025 Panini products, the company announced Tuesday.
It’s the first time Mahomes autographed cards will appear in a licensed product since 2020 sets. The cards will be featured across Panini’s line of NFL products, and Panini will also work with Mahomes on additional strategic and marketing initiatives.
“Panini has been with me since my NFL Draft party in 2017, and I’m excited to be working with them on these new autographed trading cards,” Mahomes said in a statement. “The Panini team continues to find ways to create really interesting trading cards that fans have come to enjoy and I’m looking forward to working with them to help develop these cards for the 2025 season.”

Mahomes remains one of the biggest names within the trading card hobby among all sports. Mahomes’ one-of-a-kind 2017 Panini National Treasures Platinum Shield autographed card, which sold for $4.3 million in 2021 according to CardLadder, holds the record for most expensive football card of all time. There have been eight sales of Mahomes autographed cards for more than $500,000 throughout his career. Autographed cards are generally some of a player’s most valuable and sought-after among collectors. And it’s unusual for a top star to have a multi-year gap between signing them.

Bringing the two-time regular season and three-time Super Bowl MVP back into the autographed cards world should bolster the popularity and demand for Panini products in a critical time for the company. Topps will take over the NFL license for trading cards in 2026, meaning this will be the last season Panini cards will bear team names and logos.
“Patrick is one of the NFL’s marquee players and someone who has made a tremendous impact not only on the field but also in communities across the country,” Panini senior vice president Jason Howarth said in a statement. “We are proud to continue our partnership with him at Panini, and to offer fans new autographed trading cards from Patrick that will be featured in our products.”
