Calgary Flames defenseman Oliver Kylington, Arizona Coyotes goaltender Connor Ingram and Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen have been named finalists for the NHL’s Masterton Trophy, given to the player who best displays “perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.”

Kylington played 33 games this past season, scoring three goals and eight points for the Flames. The Swedish defenseman returned to game action this year after missing a season and a half due to what was described as a “family issue.” Kylington spent time in Sweden and skated on his own in Calgary, tending to his mental health until he was ready to play again on Jan. 25.

Ingram finished this past season with a 23-21-3 record, a .907 save percentage and a 2.91 goals-against average. The goaltender lives with obsessive-compulsive disorder, which was undiagnosed until he visited a therapist after entering the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program in 2021. Ingram has since become an NHL regular.

Andersen was sidelined indefinitely in November with a blood-clotting issue after starting the season 4-1-0. The Danish goaltender returned to practice in January following treatment for deep vein thrombosis, which led to pulmonary embolisms. He finished the regular season with a 13-2-0 record in 16 appearances, posting a .932 save percentage and a 1.84 goals-against average.

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang was last year’s winner.

On Friday, the league will unveil the Jack Adams Award finalists for Coach of the Year. The finalists for the Lady Byng Trophy, awarded to the “player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability,” will be revealed on Saturday. The three finalists for the Selke Trophy, given to the league’s best defensive forward, will be announced on Sunday.
