Norsk Skieventyr in Morgedal, Norway

Recreation of the ski production

This hidden gem is a museum focused on the sport of skiing and the notable Norwegians who shaped it. Sondre Norheim, the father of modern skiing, was born in this small town and contributed to a simple yet monumental change to skiing which led to what is known today as Telemark skiing.

The museum also details how to walk to Sondre’s birthplace, which is about a 45-minute hike away. The Olympic torch has been lit in its fireplace on three different occasions.

There is also an exhibit on the progression of skis and how they have changed over the years; it even includes the evolution of snowboarding.
