Megalabs USA has acquired Geologie, a US-based skin care brand known for its dermatologist-backed, benzoyl peroxide (BPO)-free acne treatments and personalized skin care offerings. The move reflects Megalabs’ broader strategy to scale science-backed clinical skincare brands internationally while maintaining product integrity.

Strategic alignment and shared values

“We are thrilled to welcome Geologie into our portfolio – an innovative brand at the forefront of wellness and health for a new generation of discerning consumers,” said Fabian Rivero, CEO of Megalabs USA, shared in Geologie’s press announcement.

“With Geologie, and through our recent investments in clinically-proven, high-quality brands, Megalabs is strengthening its leadership in dermatology by delivering scientifically-advanced solutions for both skin and hair care – including effective, BPO-free acne treatments that reflect our commitment to clean, safe, and forward-thinking formulations.”

Rivero explained to CosmeticsDesign that Geologie’s strong alignment with Megalabs’ vision and values was a core factor in brokering the investment deal, “particularly its passion-driven approach and commitment to innovation.”

He also shared that the brand’s “breakthroughs in clinical skin care,” particularly the BPO-free formulations, “support our long-term strategy of expanding into meaningful, science-backed skin care solutions.”

The acquisition follows Geologie’s retail expansion into over 900 Target stores in the United States, a move co-founder Nick Allen described as a “significant milestone.” As Allen explained to CosmeticsDesign, “Megalabs USA’s support will enable us to continue strengthening our retail presence by increasing our international footprint.”

Expansion, innovation, and global growth

Since launching in 2018, Geologie has built a strong presence through direct-to-consumer and retail channels. According to Geologie’s press announcement, the brand “has risen as a leader in the market with over 40 industry awards and over 10,000 5-star customer reviews.”

Megalabs intends to leverage its operational infrastructure and distribution networks to bring Geologie to new markets. “We’re planning a strategic rollout of Geologie across Central and South America, as well as other international markets,” Rivero said. “Our well-established footprint and distribution networks throughout Latin America position us to scale quickly and effectively.”

Product development will remain a priority. Rivero noted that consumers and retail partners “can expect expanded product lines, accelerated innovation, and a strengthened presence in both domestic and international markets.”

He added, “We’re investing in new formulations that address a broader spectrum of skin concerns, while also laying the groundwork for global distribution.”

Allen emphasized that the brand’s core mission will remain intact throughout the transition. “We are confident that Megalabs USA’s expertise in research and development will promote efficiency while also prioritizing staying true to Geologie’s commitment to dermatologist-backed skincare that is affordable and easy to use.”

Dave Skaff, Geologie co-founder, also expressed confidence in the acquisition in the company’s press announcement. “With Megalabs’s international footprint, paired with its unparalleled resources, we are confident that Geologie will continue on its trajectory to scale far beyond its existing omnichannel presence,” he said.

As Allen and Skaff exit the business, the remaining brand team will collaborate with Megalabs on “the acceleration into new retailers, advancements in innovation, efficient and effective marketing, and global expansion,” Geologie’s press announcement concluded.
