Crystal Palace have completed the signing of striker Katie Stengel from NJ/NY Gotham.
The 32-year-old joins the newly-promoted Women’s Super League club on a two-year contract that runs until 2026.
The move sees Stengel return to English football following a year in the National Women’s Soccer League, having previously enjoyed a prolific 18-month spell at Liverpool.
“It’s been a whirlwind, I’m very excited to be here,” Stengel said. “I loved the WSL when I was playing in England, so I’m just happy to be back and to get an opportunity.”
The former U.S. youth international scored three goals in 25 NWSL appearances after joining Gotham in the summer of 2023 on an initial loan from Liverpool that was subsequently made permanent.

She had helped Liverpool win promotion back to the WSL during the second half of the 2021-22 campaign and was the team’s top scorer with nine goals in 21 top flight appearances the following season.
Stengel has previously had spells at Washington Spirit, Bayern Munich and Utah Royals and joins Palace ahead of the club’s debut season in the WSL.
“We’re really excited to have Katie join us at Crystal Palace,” Palace’s head of women’s football Grace Williams added. “She’s got great experience and knows how to find the back of the net, so we can’t wait to see what she brings to the team this season.“
Palace topped the Championship last season following a four-way race for promotion. They begin the 2024-25 campaign away to Tottenham Hotspur on September 22.
